New Adventures

You have probably noticed that I have been a little MIA lately. A new adventure has begun in my life. I have become an Independent Consultant for Ava Anderson.

If you are like me, before I had a friend become a Consultant, I had ever heard of the company. Let me give you a little background on it.

At the age of 14 Ava Anderson realized that many personal care products contain hazardous and toxic chemicals. In 2009, Ava Anderson Non Toxic was born with 6 skin care products and in just 7 years there are now 17 different categories of non toxic products!

The Mission at Ava Anderson is “to educate consumers about current health risks in personal care and home products and provide non toxic alternatives and in doing so, build meaningful businesses with many Consultants”

So, let me tell you about why I became involved in Ava Anderson. The process started before I became pregnant with Princess. I started the healthy lifestyle transition. I wanted to make myself the best I could be to be able to provide a healthy home for Princess to nest for 9 months in. After she was born, I have felt it is my job to keep her as healthy as I can, not only in food choices but also in every day life choices. I have done my best, I thought, to show her how to live a healthy lifestyle. The reason I say I thought was because I never even considered all the toxics that we come across in every day life!

I made the decision to become an Independent Consultant was because I want to reduce the toxics in everyday life. I want to share my passion with others and educate them in ingredients to avoid.

My Emergency Snack Kit

Holidays are over and now it’s time to work on the new goals for the year. Over 90% of people make the “resolution” to loose weight on January 1..EVERY.SINGLE..YEAR! How many really stick to it? They become bored with it. They want instant results. They set themselves up for failure by not planning.

This brings me to my topic of the day today. How many of you actually plan snacks for during the day or for road trips? Having a 2 year old, who eats 12 hours a day (I would LOVE to have her metabolism!!!), makes me plan even more then I already do. So whether we are going on a 2 hour car ride trip or running errands for the day; I have to have an emergency snack kit on hand with me.

Having one for her gives me the confidence that I won’t ruin all the better choices I have made throughout the day with getting that king size candy bar in the check out line.

I have a small container that stays in the car and has snacks for myself, husband, or our 2 year old princess. And (drum roll please!) here are the details of the snack kit that you have been waiting for:

  1. Granola and Protein Bars: These are my favorite because they can also be thrown in my purse/diaper bag if we are heading into the store.
  2. Trail Mix: I am a huge fan of making it myself. I add almonds, M&Ms, cashews, peanuts, chocolate chips, and coconut flakes!
  3. Popcorn: This is made the day of the trip and put into small baggies.
  4. Goldfish Crackers: This is just for the little princess. She enjoys these and if we are going for a long car ride..whatever makes her happy makes for a happy mommy and daddy. (within reason of course!!)
  5. Fresh fruit: This is also added the day of. We usually take a small cooler if we are heading out for the day and the fruit will be added into the cooler.

What are your favorite snacks for road trips? If you need ideas or even maybe some birthday gifts; Head over to Nuts.Com and check out their products and ideas. They have some fantastic ideas and gifts.

What do you want to accomplish in 2016?

Heavy Hearts

Last night I went to bed with a heavy heart. Not because of something that directly effects me or my life but because of the actions of others against innocent people in the world.

Yet again, there was breaking news of a mass shooting in San Bernardino, California where 14 innocent people lost their life and so far 17 others were injured.

It pains me to know that this is the world we are raising our children in. It scares me to know that as innocent as Baby P is right now, that there will be a time that I will have to sit her down and explain that there are bad people in the world and Mommy and Daddy will do anything and everything in our power to keep her safe.

My heart hurts for the victims families that are now grieving.

So as you go about your day, remember tomorrow is never promised. It is not something that should be taken for granted. Hug your loved ones just a little tighter. Make sure you let them know how loved they are and how much you appreciate them.

If you have to use this horrific event as a teaching tool for your children; teach them this lesson (in the words of Mister Fred Rogers) –

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
– Fred Rogers

Rejuvenate your floors

Are your floors dull? Do they lack the shine they once had?

If you answered “YES!” to either one of those questions, I may have a solution for you!

I, like many others, had floors that looked amazing right after being mopped. The shine from the water made them look like new. I love that look! But after the water dried, the shine left.

I googled all natural ways to get laminate flooring a shine and nothing worked like I wanted it too. I went to different stores and searched for products that would work on laminate flooring; everything I found was for wood flooring.

Jackpot! While watching a commercial one evening, I seen a product called Rejuvenate. So that night I made a mental note to remember that product when I went to the store next.

Mental note — Forgot!

Finally just the other day, I was browsing aisles in a store and what did I come across? Rejuvenate! Ahhh! Yes! This is what I need to try. So I picked up a bottle. I used it and it has made a difference on my kitchen floor! I can’t wait to use it on the foyer floor also!

The picture below is one that I attempted to get a picture to show you the difference. I hope you are able to see it.

How do you use the product?

Make sure your floors are clean and fully dried before using the Rejuvenate product. (I just used water only to wipe up the floor because I just mopped it 2 days prior) After the floor is completely dry, apply the product directly to the floor. Rejuvenate suggests doing it in a 4×4 square area. To apply the product to the floor, use a microfiber cloth and in a circular motion spread the product over the flooring. Let dry for 45 mins and check out the shine on your floor!

Where can you purchase the product?

You can visit the website:

You can also purchase at most local retailers!

Dear Sleep Regression… You Suck!

There is not an actual Websters Dictionary definition of the term “Sleep Regression” but ask any parent who has had a child and they can tell you it is a real thing!

Most people believe that when their child, who previously was sleeping through the night, is now waking up for no apparent reason; sometimes a few times a night.

Found Via Pinterest

We are currently experiencing this with Baby P. And let me tell you I am not a fan! She has always been an awesome sleeper and I feel like I am living the newborn dreams again. I know last week she was sick so that contributed to some of the restlessness but we are getting better. No coughing throughout the night what so ever, we are still getting up about 3 or 4 times a night. It isn’t for long and I am a fan of the crying it out (for a short amount of time) but when she is still coughing during the day, I do not want her to get upset enough to cause a coughing spell so I go and tuck her back in.

I know that “this too shall pass” .. I am hoping that it is sooner then later! I won’t lie..I LOVE LOVE LOVE sleep! And I miss it. I miss the bond we had with my bed. I miss feeling refreshed in the AM. I feel like a mombie again and let’s face it, that’s not a great feeling.

As I close this post, because Baby P has been in bed for 2 hours already, let me just say…

Dear Sleep Regression,
You Suck!
Baby P’s Mommy

Did your toddler every go through a sleep regression?

Falling Back

We are less then a week away from a time change. As adults, it sucks to have the time change and our routines become different. It’s 2:30pm right now as I type this; next week it will only be 1:30pm. The days feel longer. The darkness comes sooner. And we feel “off”. So how do you get your child to adjust without much interfering.

The most important tip is to start pushing back your day, if possible. I know that most people can not but if you are able to start pushing nap and bedtime back by 10 minutes everyday.

Example of a bedtime routine while transitioning to a fall back time change:
Child normally goes to bed at 8pm.

Sunday – Bedtime is at 8:10pm
Monday – Bedtime is at 8:20pm
Tuesday – Bedtime is at 8:30pm
Wednesday – Bedtime is at 8:40pm
Thursday – Bedtime is at 8:50 pm
Friday – Bedtime is at 9:00pm
Saturday – Bedtime stays at 9:00pm
Sunday – Bedtime will be back at 8:00pm! – right were child started

I know this messes with our schedule as parents but instead of having the transitioning happening after the time change when you may experience battles with bedtime, extra early wake up calls, and restless sleep for your little one.

Have you started to transition your child?
